Role Summary:The Lead Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Staff Manager and will provide manufacturing technical support, ensure design for producibility / cost and support sourcing strategy for Aviation Engine components. You will provide costing estimates based on historical data and experience, lead resolution to complex manufacturing technical problems to relieve constraints, and use experience to solve problems, develop, and execute objectives.
Supports GE as a technical manufacturing engineering expert for sourced, machined components
Collaborates between design engineering, product line owners, sourcing and manufacturing shops to establish and continuously improve entitlement cost, delivery and quality of machined components
Ensures manufacturing producibility, quality and cost efficiency of new designs and changes
Works with suppliers to troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure lowest part cost and cycle times
Develops part cost estimates from engineering blueprints and solid model definition
Communicates project approaches and shares outcomes of research done and recommendations for improvement
Delivers products as part of a team
Works on cross functional teams
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering of machining processes
3 years experience with aviation rotating and structural engine components
3 years experience with machining ball bearings and gearboxes
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to influence others and lead small teams
Lead initiatives of large scope and impact
Ability to lead and coordinate several projects simultaneously
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Proven analytical and organizational ability
Experience with digital tools based in MS Excel, and/or Spotfire
