The purchasing and receiving manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement and distribution of products needed to operate all Breads Bakery locations, ensuring the highest quality goods are sourced at a fair market price, monitoring and maintaining proper handling and storage of inventory, and memorializing documentation to ensure proper invoicing and payment are remitted.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Research, establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors, coordinating terms to ensure productive relationships are formed and maintained
  • Communicate, place orders and negotiate pricing with all vendors; working with management to maintain proper par levels of all inventory based on business volumes and needs
  • Facilitate regular market research to ensure highest quality and prices are in place, to anticipate any foreseeable price changes in the market, and explore opportunities for the company not yet utilized
  • Set and oversee receiver schedule & assist in training staff to receive based on the company standard
  • Assist in recipe costing as directed by the controller and CEO
  • Create receiving summary documents daily to inform team of expected deliveries keep log and update daily; continuously monitor receiving program to ensure proper steps are taken when receiving goods, and coordinates with receivers to do so
  • Oversee receiving paperwork is correctly collected, verified and marked before invoice upload into software (Plate IQ); ensure credit memos are clearly marked on invoices, and the net effect is uploaded into the software
  • Oversee & monitor ongoing organization of storage facilities for cleanliness & organization; maintain an organized dead stock list and regularly report to management on dead stock inventory
  • Regular updates to costs in various company databases; coordinate with company controller for unit cost variation concerns regularly
  • Additional administrative support for team members as needed

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with accounts payable and inventory management software
  • Experience in the food and beverage industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Office
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Remarkable interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Plate IQ or Restaurant 365 (preferred but not required)
